Jeff Beckman graduated from the American Institute of Business in 1985 with a degree in retail management. While earning his degree, Jeff worked part time for a family owned wholesale distributor for plumbing, heating and cooling supplies located in Des Moines Iowa. He specialized in sweeping floors, stocking shelves, receiving freight, and filling customer orders.  This experience prepared him for a full time position with the company working on the order desk. This gave Jeff the  insight on the day to day activities of the wholesale distribution channel. Jeff enjoyed the customer interaction and the challenge of satisfying customer needs.  While Jeff’s responsibilities where primarily tied to the order desk, he filled the role of being the pump and well specialist for the branch. 

 

In 1987, Jeff was given the opportunity to fill the position of a retiring salesperson. Jeff’s primary focus was on plumbing oriented companies that employed anywhere from one to one hundred plumbers. As opportunity presented itself, Jeff became involved in the marketing of heating products. As time went by,  Jeff was given the responsibility to service and maintain major HVAC accounts. These responsibilities included Radiant Floor design, geothermal design, hydronic systems, and high velocity systems. Jeff enjoyed success  in sales for the next 10 years.

 

In 1998 Jeff made a career change to become a commodities broker in the agricultural industry. Jeff gained valuable insight in understanding business risk, accepting risk, and managing risk. Jeff enjoyed three years in this endeavor.

 

In 2001 Jeff found himself back in the wholesale distribution business with the same company he started with in 1985. This led him to an opportunity to go to work for his largest hvac contractor account. His focus was now retail sales. This gave Jeff the opportunity to work with home owners, builders, and commercial customers on HVAC and plumbing needs for the next four years.

 

In 2008 Jeff formed Prism Sales, Inc.  The ambition, inspired by Jeff’s Father, was to represent premium, name brand HVAC products. The product mix was to offer Customer Solutions, Comfort Solutions, and Sustainable Energy Solutions. 

 

Jeff and his wife Diane live near Panora Iowa where they are raising five daughters. The Beckmans are kept busy with basketball, volleyball, dance, tumbling, boating, and hunting.
